iPod Weddings and Parties
SAVE on hiring a DJ - just use your iPod!
More and more wedding couples and party planners are waking up to the possibility of saving a few quid on their entertainment by hiring some PA equipment, plugging in an iPod, and building their own playlist! Foregoing continuity, the ability to chop and change the music at will to suit the mood, effectively refusing requests and doing away with the announcements and MC role that most DJs perform, folks are beginning to realise this is a viable alternative!
Look at the cost saving!
Based on a typical event such as a 40th birthday party, you might be able to save as much as £50 by following the iPod route! Of course, having the iPod is fine - but you're going to need a PA system to hook it up to, and your guests will expect at least a few flashing lights. Whereas a typical DJ for the night for such an event might cost around £250, you can expect to pay no more than £200 for a half-decent PA hire!
You will of course need to provide a large deposit, sign a waiver, arrange Public Liability Insurance for the event and, depending on the type of party in question, obtain temporary public performance and possibly ProDub licences, find someone capable and trustworthy to work the iPod, adjust the volume, make announcements, control the lighting, liaise with the venue staff and so on.
The extra hassle could be justified though, as this wedding couple will testify:
